Crossroads Dentistry, located in Kansas City’s Crossroads community, combines the art of dentistry with 

graphic arts in a special way. Our dental office is in the forefront of dentistry, a multidisciplinary practice 

that provides state-of-the-art, comprehensive dental care for the entire family... in one convenient location.


Dr. Fleming and his staff have extensive training and experience which enables them to provide the full range of services of general dentistry:

Dr. Fleming is supported by a team of licensed dental hygienist and experienced dental assistants. Skilled laboratory technicians at local high quality dental labs fabricate full and partial dentures, and fixed bridges and specialty cosmetics.

and gums. Dentistry is a highly personalized service that involves numerous relationships between

Our History


Dr. J. Daniel Fleming first opened the doors of this practice on May 6th, 1986 on West 39th St. in 

Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Fleming received his Bachelor of Sciences in Pharmacy from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, Pharmacy School and worked as a pharmacist through his training in dental school. Dr. Fleming graduated from the University of Missouri, Kansas City Dental School in 1985. 


Dr. Fleming, or "Dr. Dan" as his patients tend to call him, first worked with and eventually bought the 

practice from Dr. Robert Lee Scott, an established Westport Dentist. It was a small practice, but one 

that Dr. Fleming felt he could grow and serve well. An urban practice in the heart of one of the oldest 

neighborhoods in Kansas City was exactly the kind of practice that Dr. Fleming enjoys.


Dr. Fleming found a storefront location well situated to serve a broad spectrum of the public in a 

rich mix of older established neighborhoods of Hyde Park, Valentine, Coleman Highlands, Longfellow 

and Southmoreland Park, the eastside and the westside neighborhoods, downtown to the north, Brookside to the south and the local business people in the Westport/midtown area. 


Continuing to be an urban pioneer, Dr. Fleming moved one more time, this time seizing the opportunity to move to the Crossroads Arts District as the anchor tenant in the Filmrow Arts Building. Kansas City’s Film Row housed the Midwestern distribution centers of companies like Warner Brothers, Paramount, MGM, 20th Century Fox, and United Artists. Now it houses Crossroads Dentistry and APEX Art Space, where we live our belief in the art of dentistry. 



APEX Art Space 


APEX Art Space was created by Dr. Dan Fleming to showcase local artists in the Kansas City Area who might not otherwise have an opportunity to display their works in an appreciative venue. The exhibit provides an exceptional atmosphere for clients of Crossroads Dentistry and is available for the First Friday’s monthly art walk and gallery tour.


Dr. Fleming wanted to be part of the community of Crossroads, part of the art and creativity. Architect Scott Slaggie of Janntsch Slaggie Architects worked with Dr. Fleming to create an art space, architecture and soundscape which would be a pleasant distraction for his patients without interfering with the high quality of the services Crossroads Dentistry provides. 


Dr. Fleming also wanted to be sure that APEX would function as well as an art space as Crossroads Dentistry does as a dental office. 



First Fridays


On the first Friday of each month, Crossroads Dentistry joins the Crossroads District's other art galleries, studios, and restaurants in an evening of fun to showcase local and national artists. Crossroads Dentistry donates wall space to local artists, with a new display each month. Thousands of visitors come to the Crossroads District, and to Crossroads Dentistry’s APEX Art Space, each month. In addition to First Fridays, Crossroads Dentistry welcomes visitors to the gallery during normal office hours.
